Nowadays medics and social workers of an amount of states are utterly worried about the psyche of future generation. Medical surveys show that each day more and more young people fall into dejection and are inclined to take their own lives. This deplorable situation can be accounted for the sense of solitude, incomprehension and neglect from the part of parents and peers. Teenagers, although, find comfort and appeasement in different subcultures similar to emo, goth, punks and so forth.
Youth subcultures often clash with the opponents in the person of parents and social workers who think them to have a baneful influence on the mind of teens. Medics, quite the opposite, affirm that these youth formations help teenagers to outlast difficulties and defiance of daily stressful conditions. Let's take emo subculture as a sample. Emo boys and girls, despite the living public belief that they are hostile, display reverence to everyone irrespective of the race or faith. Just think how undaunted emo young people are to be in resistance to the norms of community by means of outward look and emo clothing. Sometimes people may be confused by the style in which emo girls and boys dress: both girls and boys wear tight-fitting dark trousers with thorny belts, small shirts, sportive boots, varied stripes and badges, long black coats and bags over the shoulder. It's not the desire to vary from other people or to state something but simply the method of self-actualization. The anger of some people can as well be aroused by the outward look of emo people. Emo guys as well as emo girls color their hair black, cut it short to the back of the head with a lock that covers half of the face and is colored rosy, have piercing in their ears, brows, cheeks (and other parts) and make loud make up. In emo culture eyes are considered to be the essence of feelings that's why emo boys and girls accentuate their eyes with black pencil and black shadows. Teenage psychologists state that there is nothing weird in it because teenagers are able to express their nature freely in such a way.
To proceed, emo girls and boys vary not merely in their clothing and outward look but also in the state of mind. Susceptibility and timidity discern emo girls from other girls. Those girls are as well unfeigned and very emotive. The same thing can be said about emo boy who can own strong feelings of sensitivity to the rest of people and themselves. Those feelings, however, are rather different items from what ordinary citizens feel. Keenness distinguishes the feelings of emo young people and in case, for example, they don't find response or approbation of people around, they might get into dejection. In contrast to emo people, medics state, average teenagers in such situations usually withdraw into themselves that at times finishes with suicides. Emo girls and boys do not hide their emotions inside; they intercommunicate and share their opinions with each other. So, is there any ground to prohibit your children to communicate or to join any youth subculture? To conclude, psychologists affirm that parents and teachers should not thwart or prohibit teenagers to join any youth formation or youth culture because it gives them freedom for self-expression.
